Holy Rosary Cathedral organist Denis Bedard will be joined by organist Rachel Alflatt in a programme of duets, solos and transcriptions by Haydn, Schubert, Franck, Bedard and others, including the monumental Sonata for organ duet by German Romantic composer Gustav Merkel. This performance will be projected on a giant screen at the front of the church.
Laureate of the CBC Radio Talent Competition in 1978, Denis Bedard has given recitals in the Americas and Europe. His compositions are performed and recorded throughout the world and he has received many commissions from professional musicians in North America and Europe and public institutions such as the CBC and the Quebec Symphony Orchestra.
Rachel Alflatt has given concerts throughout the province of Quebec, as well as in Ontario, New Brunswick, and British Columbia. She has also performed with the West Coast Symphony Orchestra and the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra and has recorded for the CBC’s French network, Radio-Canada FM. She is organist and music director at Queen’s Avenue United Church.
