Yesterday (Tuesday Feb 5), the RCCO travelling clinician 2013, David Palmer, was in Holy Trinity Church in Vancouver, and he shared his knowledge, experience and skills with the participants. In a very pleasant manner he dealt with aspects of the perceived decline of interest in the organ as an instruments and how recitals can be organized, planned and scheduled to respond to this.
Regarding accompaniment he demonstrated and elaborated on harmonization, tempo, registration, and much more. At the piano he discussed how to play hymns that are organ music, and on the organ he demonstrated how to play e.g. contemporary songs, which are written for the piano.
Here is a 2 minute impression of the evening.
