Vancouverite Isaac Howie is among the city’s most promising young organists. Entering UBC at 15, he is currently pursuing a BMus (2025) with Michael Dirk and Alex Weimann. He is Organist at Holy Family Vancouver since 2021, and holds an ARCT in piano. Recent highlights include Silent Movie Mondays at the Orpheum, Widor with New West Symphony Orchestra, Organ Dedication of St John the Apostle Vancouver, Rutter’s Gloria at the Chan Centre, and Mozart’s Requiem with Belle Voci; he also recently appeared in the semifinals of the 2nd Feith Orgelwettbewerb in Blieskastel, Germany, and the RCCO National Organ Competition in Toronto. Besides organ, Isaac is a composer and was division winner of the Vancouver Chamber Choir competition in 2021. In his spare time, Isaac translates Greek texts, builds computers and sells real estate.

This December, be transported into a world of festive joy with “The Gift of Music – A Classic Christmas,” a heartwarming and uplifting Christmas Concert featuring the grandeur of pipe organ and brass.
Historic Canadian Memorial United Church heralds the beginning of the festive season with timeless Christmas melodies and holiday favourites. The concert is showcasing the talents of accomplished Canadian Memorial organist Bruce McKenzie, alongside the vibrant and dynamic Lions Gate Brass Quintet, and the Canadian Memorial Music Team under the direction of Jay Esplana. The program is brimming with Christmas music you love—stirring organ pieces, radiant brass arrangements, and joyful carol sing-alongs.
Adding a nostalgic touch, the Canadian Memorial United Church Players present a live performance of the beloved short Christmas radio play, “The Gift of the Magi.”
All proceeds directly support the Organ Fund, ensuring the preservation and care of Canadian Memorial’s 96 year old Casavant Pipe Organ – a community treasure.
